Writing has always been a passion of mine though I was never employed as a writer, per se. I thought it was time to put it on a professional footing so signed up for the Copywriting course with the College of Media and Publishing (CMP), based in the UK. I really enjoyed the course, so much so, that I have formed my own company, Compelling Pieces, which I plan to use as a platform for copywriting, social media and blogs, online marketing and others. I expect writing to take up more and more of my time. For anyone who is interested in learning about writing professionally, I thoroughly recommend CMP's courses.I am presently (September 2024) planning a conference on Single Pilot Operations to be held in London in March 2025. The programme will have a high degree of Human Factors and Artificial Intelligence in it so the current movement in writing content for AI is of particular interest.I have used proofreading and editing continuously in various roles in business and regulatory compliance. These continue to keep me busy.I turned an interest in Performance Measurement into a means of helping small and medium sized businesses assess their performance compared with stated goals and enable them accurately measure the differences so that they can put remedial actions in place.My main experience is in Operations and Training Management, in both aviation, and non-aviation business environments. I have extensive experience in multi-cultural environments, and working with a wide variety of different regulatory bodies. I also have extensive experience in recruiting and was active in establishing a very successful cadet pilot scheme in Asia. I am a Fellow of the Royal Aeronautical Society and member of their Flight Operations Group. In recent years I became involved in the local business community, mainly through membership of the Chamber of Commerce and non-profit and voluntary work. I have been involved in the establishment of a community Emergency Management Committee, designed to deal with various issues regarding safety and security via programmes such as FireSmart and Neighbourhood Watch. I am also involved in fundraising for one of the local hospitals and served as President and Board Chair of our local branch of the Canadian Mental Health Association.Specialties: Operations Management, Recruiting, validation of Training and Recruiting programmes, impact of new technologies on human performance, and use of Strategic Management tools such as the Balanced Scorecard and Statistical Process Control.
