Included open days, campus tours, school visits, summer schools, MAP, academic skill workshops and other University schemes.• Majority of work was unsupervised, trust placed on me to work independently and communicate effectively with people of all ages. • Trained as senior ambassador, which included work involving the management and training of fellow ambassadors on key events such as open days.• Senior role involved work at higher education conferences across the country, sometimes as the sole UoM representative. Effectively and accurately conveying my experience as a current student within UoM, and assisting students with specific questions on university life, was the primary objective at these events. Being knowledgeable and being a friendly approachable presence were key skills within this role. • In July 2018 and July 2019 I worked as part of a 16 ambassador team to deliver a 5 day summer school to Year 10 students from the local area. Core aim was to promote University to those from underprivileged backgrounds within Manchester. Highly rewarding work which proved invaluable and unforgettable to the students involved. Other summer school work includes an National Rail backed engineering week. • Heavy focus on teamwork and communication in order for events to succeed, large responsibility as often looking after groups of younger children (11-18)• Built a strong bond with the UoM student recruitment team, who knew I could always be counted on to perform well even within roles / environments I had little experience in. In depth 15,000 word report produced.• Organised a site visit to BAE’s 3D printing centre, tour of facilities and meeting allowedfurther understanding of how the technology could successfully be used within the Washington site.• Follow up return visit from other team subsequently arranged. Allowed all employees atWashington to further understand their knowledge of additive manufacturing via informal discussions withexperts from Samlesbury. Huge engagement and excitement resulted from this event.• Weekly meetings and deadlines to monitor my progress. Collaborated with country-wide employees, to further understand what BAE is current researching in this area, and what capabilities were present across other sites.• Additional projects incorporated trial work and manufacturing testing alongside members of the engineering and manufacturing teams. Initial specs and reports produced. These documents were then used as the basis from which management would make decisions about changes to the manufacturing processes of various products.• The placement at BAE Systems was extremely insightful, and my knowledge on successful business strategy, individual business department collaboration, intra-site communication and engineering practises were expanded.
