I joined Deloitte in 2015 as a Senior Art Director for Deloitte Digital’s Seattle-based marketing team and helped lead DD’s 2016 visual identity reboot. During my time with DD, my presentation and proposal designs helped fuel high-value and strategic pursuit wins, while also measurably building process and creative capital through design mentorship, documentation, templates, and trainings.

I designed Excel business models that accelerated business engagements. I defined a visual identity system. I created marketing tools such as websites, UI mockups, presentations, patent art, and product documentation. I led user testing and market surveys to improve product user experiences. I designed a morale-boosting all-day downtown Seattle scavenger hunt for a team-building activity. I managed events. I played bill-collector for accounts across multiple continents. I manned the barbecue at the company picnic, after coming in first place at our team go-kart tournament. Despite all of the accomplishments with Opanga, the thing I am most proud of is foosing my co-worker Ben six times in one game of foosball. That one's for you, Major.

Homebrew Creative was the formal face of my freelance design endeavors. I did a little bit of everything designers do including visual identity systems, presentations, Wordpress/Squarespace sites, print design, UI mockups, print buying, events, and catalogs. The most impressive KPI I can qualify about my time freelancing is outstanding customer loyalty and repeat business, including three clients that worked with me for over ten years.

NI is a fantastic company to work for. They have a pioneering vision on culture, underpinned by a 100-year plan. I took my first opportunity to get a foot in the door, hiring on as a traffic manager. My contributions and leadership were rewarded with four promotions in five years, reaching Group Manager status for a team of 17 designers and production artists. NI invests heavily in manager training, and as a result my proactive management style is rooted in books such as "First Break All the Rules", "Strengths Finder" and "Getting to Yes".Here is the job description that was posted to replace me when I resigned: Responsible for the day to day operational aspects of running a global, in house creative organization including workflow, capacity and load balancing across all creative teams. Responsible for corporate and product marketing projects across all media and among internal and external stakeholders for National Instruments. Direct responsibility for personnel management for creative and production teams. Coordination of project scopes, schedules, budgets, internal and external communications, resource management, traffic forecasting, reports, and vendor selection/management.

Austin, Texas Area

I earned the equivalent of a PhD in print working for AccuGraphics. Fixing client files so that they were actually print-ready forced me to learn all of the best practices for print optimization. I also learned about the science of color spaces/gamuts and how to build profiles, having created a closed-loop color management system capable of producing accurate, repeatable color output across a multitude of print technologies, inks, and substrates.
