While there, the organization's director promoted me to office manager. In this position, I led an office of 26 interns and acted as a liaison between the director and the staff. This role was my first professional leadership position and taught me the value of teamwork and the skill of problem solving.

I presented my analysis to human resource officials located in several states at weekly teleconference meetings. I also reviewed and analyzed financial summaries of national lotteries in Bulgaria and Israel in conjunction with an International Financial Analyst.

On Capitol Hill, I worked closely with the Senator Reed's legislative aids to review and analyze testimony concerning the Middle East and North Africa before the Senate Armed Services Committee. After attending committee meetings, I prepared research reports regarding legislation that was discussed to advise the Senator's aids as to whether the policies were supported by public opinion.

In the Office of Governor Lincoln Chafee, I worked under the Governor’s Health and Housing Legislative Analyst. In this capacity I prepared over 30 policy briefs regarding legislative acts before the Rhode Island House and Senate. Such briefs included careful study of the related law in other New England states and the social and legal implications of the legislative act, should it be passed into law. My experience strengthened my ability to write clear, precise, and succinct analyses.

As an employee at the National Archives, I worked in the Central Reading Room, where the general public views archived documents. The National Archives maintains a strict policy regarding document management and my primary task was to ensure compliance with these regulations. In large part, this required communicating with researchers visiting the Archives and, at times, required cooperative solutions to ensure document preservation while helping visitors achieve research goals.
