Over nearly 15 years at Fidelity, I had the privilege of serving in a wide variety of roles. I began as a member of the High Income Division managing reorganizations, restructurings and other special situation investments; then spent approximately 4-1/2 years managing the investment arm of Fidelity's mutual fund wrap program during which assets under management grew from ~$6.3 billion to more than $20 billion. I next spent approximately four years in Fidelity's private equity group during which I held a number of senior positions, including 2-1/2 years as CEO and President of Fidelity Investors Management Corp. (currently known as Northern Neck Investors) managing Fidelity's private equity investment partnerships. During my tenure with Fidelity's private equity group I served on the Boards of ProBuild Holdings (formerly known as The Strober Organization), Boston Coach, Production Control Services, Avtek, Veritude, Pembroke Real Estate, FIML Natural Resources, Seaport Asset Management (including Boston's Seaport Hotel, World Trade Center, WTC West Office Building, WTC East Office Building and Sebastian's Restaurant and Catering), Ballyrock Investment Advisors and Geode Capital. During this period I also served on the investment committees for Fidelity Ventures (technology), Fidelity Biosciences (biotechnology), Fidelity Capital (growth equity), Fidelity Capital Investors (leveraged buyouts) and FIML Natural Resources (oil & gas exploration and production). During my last three years at Fidelity, I managed Fidelity's CDO and structured credit products business.

I was the founder and leader of the Special Situations Group within Fidelity's High Income Division. In this capacity I led Fidelity's restructuring efforts in several complex situations, including Harrah’s Jazz Casino in New Orleans, La; Cadillac Fairview; Arena Brands; Acme Holdings; Alto Parana; and Standard Brands.
