I'm a politics reporter at The Citizen, a daily newspaper in Auburn, New York. I cover the 24th Congressional District, a handful of state legislative districts in central New York and statewide politics. I write The Citizen's Eye on NY column every Sunday and author the newspaper's political blog of the same name. During my time at The Citizen, I have won nearly 40 individual and group awards in journalism competitions. In 2019, I won the Syracuse Press Club's Bill Carey Journalist of the Year Award.

  Since 2009, I have been covering local, state and federal politics for The Citizen and auburnpub.com. My experience includes reporting on six congressional elections, three statewide elections and the 2016 presidential primary elections in New York. I have won numerous awards for my work, including the Syracuse Press Club's 2019 Bill Carey Journalist of the Year award recognizing the top journalist in the region. In 2021, I was a finalist for the national Toner Prize for Excellence in Local Political Reporting. Aside from my political work, I have been The Citizen's lead reporter covering the COVID-19 pandemic since March 2020. In that role, I have wrote stories about COVID outbreaks, vaccination clinics and other issues unique to the pandemic.
