I began my working life in 1998 as an apprentice for Hertfordshire based electrical contractor's, Mill Green Electrical. Following the completion of my training I was a valued member of the company and undertook the running of installing electrical systems in various premises such as new build schools, factories and housing estates. I stayed with them until 2010, when I purchased a franchise in Internet marketing which was called The Best Of Hertford. In the four years of my owning the company I built a large network of local contacts and thrived on connecting people with each other. In all honesty, my young age and inexperience saw my business struggle along, but I began to look at my role as an apprentice with my own business. The amount I learned about myself was huge and following the sale of the company to a client I felt like a different person who was capable of anything. I moved my skills and knowledge into the opening of a 'hot' Yoga studio in the market town of Ware in Hertfordshire, we called it POW Yoga. Between July and September of 2013 I designed and built a website, embedded a booking system and built a customer list using the marketing strategies I'd gained. I also renovated a two storey office into a beautiful Yoga studio complete with shop and changing rooms. I did all this alone, whilst my business partner wound down her other business and created the class timetables and hired teachers. My time as director of POW Yoga was shortlived, I sold my half to my business partner in the Spring of 2014 and enjoyed the remainder of the year as a stay at home father to my then three year old.In January of 2015 I returned to the Electrical industry and began teaching future electricians at Oaklands College in St Albans. I absolutely loved it there, I was part of a great team and gained my level 5 teaching qualification along with my A1 Assessor award. After four years and being promoted to coordinator of short courses I joined Access Training Academies in Welwyn Garden City. Here I teach online and in class, as well as assess and IQA.I feel right now that I'm in my true calling, I love teaching and helping to change people's lives. I'm good at it, I have bundles of energy to do it, I may no longer be a business owner, but I genuinely love what I do.
