Bob Thomas is a former Assistant U.S. Attorney who represents whistleblowers under federal and state False Claims Acts and other laws. Recently, Bob and Suzanne Durrell co-founded the Whistleblower Law Collaborative LLC in Boston, which is a six attorney practice of former civil and criminal prosecutors. Bob and Suzanne were named the 2017 Whistleblower Lawyers of the Year by the non-profit public interest organization Taxpayers Against Fraud, which recognized them for “an extraordinarily successful year in careers devoted to fighting fraud” and for their body of work over fifteen years. They have successfully represented whistleblowers in dozens of successful cases, including well-publicized cases against Amgen, Pfizer, Forest, Elan, Eisai, WellCare, Amedisys, Mylan (EpiPen pricing), and most recently AmerisourceBergen case ($885 million). In the aggregate, these cases hasve returned more than $6 billion to the federal and state treasuries. Mr. Thomas is a 1985 cum laude graduate of Harvard Law School and an experienced litigator of both criminal and civil fraud cases. He has worked in both the private sector and the public sector for extended periods, and is a member of the bars of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, the State of Maryland, and the District of Columbia. He began his career in Washington, D.C. at Covington & Burling and then from 1989 to 1997 served as an Assistant U.S. Attorney for the District of Maryland, where he concentrated on the criminal prosecution of white-collar fraud matters, and where he tried dozens of criminal cases. Returning to private practice in 1997, Bob served as a special prosecutor of labor racketeering cases pursuant to a monitorship imposed on the client union by consent decree with the U.S. Department of Justice. He tried dozens of cases before a labor arbitrator in connection with the special prosecutor assignment, including several cases against alleged members or associates of La Cosa Nostra.
