Following a distinguished career as one of the preeminent fraud prosecutors with the U.S. Department of Justice, Ms. Durrell represents whistleblowers with claims under federal and state False Claims Acts and under whistleblower programs at the SEC, IRS, and CFTC. She established Durrell Law Office in 2003 representing whistleblowers in collaboration with Robert M. Thomas, Jr., of Thomas & Associates. Recently, she and Mr. Thomas founded the Whistleblower Law Collaborative LLC of which she is a member. She and Mr. Thomas were named the 2017 Whistleblower Lawyers of the Year by the non-profit public interest organization Taxpayers Against Fraud Education Fund, which recognized them for “an extraordinarily successful year in careers devoted to fighting fraud.” They have successfully represented whistleblowers (relators) in many cases, including ones involving Amgen, Pfizer, Forest, Elan, Eisai, WellCare, Amedisys, and most recently the $465 million settlement with Mylan (EpiPen pricing) in 2017.Ms. Durrell served as an Assistant U.S. Attorney and as Deputy Chief, and then Chief, Civil Division, U. S. Attorney's Office, Boston, supervising and prosecuting the office’s whistleblower (qui tam) and False Claims Act cases from 1989 to 2002. She was the lead civil attorney on the five qui tam cases and health care fraud investigation against National Medical Care, Inc./Fresenius that, in 2000, resulted in a then-record $486 million settlement.  She also served as Deputy Associate Attorney General at the Department of Justice in Washington, D.C. and was a nationwide leader in developing strategies and policies for enforcing the False Claims Act. During her tenure with the Department of Justice, she received numerous awards, including the Attorney General’s Award for Exceptional Service, the most prestigious recognition bestowed by the Department.
