After being made redundant from Morrison Utilities through loss of contracts, I joined O'Connor Utilities Ltd as they were awarded the contract from Northern PowerGrid to carry out all the work schemes that they consider Large Works (anything over 100 meters of excavation). As the sole scheduler at OCU, I am responsible for booking jobs into Northern PowerGrids tailored programming tool (PMIT).-Work closely with the client, Northern PowerGrid, to solve any problems-Ensuring customer target dates are met (when possible)-Any Legal standards are met (OFGEM)-Pull off any plans from GIS, or any other utility program that display current utilities underground. This will help our teams identify existing cables, waterpipes, communications or gas pipes, not only will this save money from replacing services, but it may save lives.-Cable jointing teams to follow on immediately from digging teams to minimise overall project times-Clever Planning- Driving in-between jobs is kept to a minimum to reduce stand time-Using information from each job to work out projected profit-Use Microsoft Office to show current availability for the resource on a spread sheetAs my role progressed, I have also started doing a weekly report for management. This report was a 6 week pipeline of our current works in the planner, breaking it down to the value of each job.On top of the NCL work, I also managed a report for Cable Diversions. This involved speaking with management, customers, builders and developers to create a log so I had an instant update for which ever party required it.
