I am an award-winning scientist currently pursuing my Ph.D. at UCLA. My research looks at how living things make crystalline materials using a number of novel geochemical tracers. I have written peer-reviewed research papers, Op-Eds, and a book as well as appeared on popular science podcasts such as 'Ologies' and 'Talk Nerdy'. I also am the Associate Director of a non-profit, Reclaiming STEM Institute, which aims to build leadership and communication skills with marginalized scientists, in order for scientists and scientific institutions to address, repair, and heal from historical and ongoing systems of oppression through: Scientific communication and leadership (workshops, lectures, publications, awards), Research (analyses, publication), Policy (workshops, direct legislative advocacy), and Advocacy (organizing workshops and addressing structural/systemic barriers).I also hold a part-time job as a Senior Writing Consultant with the UCLA Graduate Writing Center where I help other graduate and professional students become better writers via writing-centered pedagogy. I hold 1-on-1 appointments with clients as well as design and facilitate writing workshops that encompass all genres of writing.
