My research interest lies in the field of Physical Chemistry, Environmental Chemistry and Laser Spectroscopy. At the moment I am a Post-doc in the LAME research group (LAser Molécules et Environnement) at LIPhy (Laboratoire Interdisciplinaire de Physique) of Grenoble (France), developing an instrument based on the technique of Mode-Locked Cavity Enhanced Absorption Spectroscopy (ML-CEAS), where frequency-doubled femtosecond laser radiation is injected into a high-finesse optical cavity. At the moment I am a Post-doc in the LAME research group (LAser Molécules et Environnement) at LIPhy (Laboratoire Interdisciplinaire de Physique) of Grenoble (France), developing an instrument based on the technique of Mode-Locked Cavity Enhanced Absorption Spectroscopy (ML-CEAS), where frequency-doubled femtosecond laser radiation is injected into a high-finesse optical cavity. The spectrometer is designed to perform in situ, spatial resolved, long-term measurements of BrO, IO, NO2 and H2CO in the geophysical station of Dumont d’Urville (DDU) in Antarctica in December 2011 – January 2012. The high reactivity of the halogen oxide radicals together with their low abundances (at part per trillions level 1:1012) represents the first challenge of the project as well as the field campaign itself where a frequency comb based instrument is displaced to the Antarctic region. During my PhD at the University of Bristol (UK) I had the opportunity to work in the group of Professor Andrew Orr-Ewing where I developed my skills in the field of molecular spectroscopy, laser optics, and environmental chemistry, working with diode lasers, nonlinear optical phenomena, and spanning a large range of techniques where optical resonators are used to enhance the optical path length. The techniques I used are: continuous wave cavity ring-down spectroscopy (cw-CRDS), off-axis cavity enhanced absorption spectroscopy (OA-CEAS), multi pass absorption using astigmatic Herriot cell and White cell, chirped-pulse spectroscopy, wavelength modulation spectroscopy (WMS) and phase shift-cavity ring-down spectroscopy (PS-CRDS). Moreover, during this period, I had the opportunity to develop some teaching skills by being a demonstrator during the course of Physical Chemistry Laboratory and Theoretical Chemistry Laboratory for 2nd year undergraduate students, and to become a Science and Engineering Ambassador to take part to the Bristol ChemLabS Outreach project.
