Ph.D. thesis entails investigating neuronal pH changes during neurotransmission and its impact on synaptic strength.-Strong independence as I lead the investigation of multiple research projects utilizing various genetic and neuroscience techniques, which successfully aided in obtaining grants for the lab-Olympus microscope equipped with Xcite LED, Sutter Intruments electrical electrode manipulators and pressurized perfusion system by ALA Scientific Intruments were used to acquire data on the pH effect on synaptic strength by pair optogenetics with two electrode voltage clamp while continuously perfusing Drosophila melanogaster larvae preparations.-Nikon confocal microscope was utilized to acquire fixed and live images of fluorescently tagged proteins at the Drosophila melanogaster larvae neuromuscular junction.- pH and calcium imaging was conducted on a high-speed imaging Andor Technology TuCam LED microscope, and images collected were analyzed with ImageJ software. Excel plots were transferred to Canvas X to create figures.-Prepared, edited, and promoted scientific research that were published in 5 scientific journals.-Mentored undergraduate students in laboratory techniques and thesis writing/presentation.
