During this period, I integrated ITEA research group to complete a PhD in the Particle Image Velocimetry technique (PIV). This technique allows measuring the velocity of a flow at multiple points instantaneously. This information can be used for example to extract aerodynamic or acoustic performances, or to validate CFD models.Tasks and accomplishments:• Effective writing skills as demonstrated by the award of above 60.000€ in grant money and by the publication of 1 research journal paper and 5 symposium papers.• Critical thinking capabilities employed for the successful development of a methodology that allows reducing PIV measurement errors by up to 70%.• Problem solving skills and knowledge in Matlab as evidenced by the development of 3 numerical tools for PIV errors analysis and simulation of PIV tests.• Project management skills improved by the requirements specification, design, development (including generation of CAD models for 3D printing) and data analysis of 4 aerodynamic test campaigns.

This collaboration, part of my PhD, was devised to gain insight into PIV measurements at an industry level and to participate in a wind tunnel test campaign. The objective was to complete a study on the effect on the aerodynamic performance of a blunt helicopter fuselage by flow control devices.Tasks and accomplishments:• Team working and time management skills improved by collaborating with a group of 3 people to conduct wind tunnel measurement campaign (PIV and pressure taps).• Design of a set of passive flow control devices that achieved a reduction of a 40% of a penalizing flow phenomenon appeared for the helicopter fuselage (which is characteristic of blunt bodies).• Communication skills applied to publish a symposium paper and deliver a symposium presentation.

For this collaboration, part of the PhD, I integrated the Institute of Aerodynamics and Flow Technology, specifically the Experimental Methods department to complete a wind tunnel test campaign in the characterization of a turbulent boundary layer.Tasks and accomplishments:• Team working skills improved by collaborating with a group of 5 people to conduct wind tunnel test campaign (with PIV technique) within schedule.• Time management and creative problem solving skills applied to develop two new methodologies in Matlab which improved the coherent aerodynamic data yield of PIV images low quality region from a 33% to a 100%.

I integrated the aircraft fuel system group for a temporary replacement of an employee. The role involved completing different tasks across the entire system lifecycle: • Conducted and analysed 1D CFD Simulations of Eurofighter fuel system performances with Flowmaster which results were reported in a technical document delivered to all 4 consortium partners.• Collaborated to propose guidelines for improvement of HAL-Tejas fuel system. • Completed different tasks for Eurofighter fuel system: analysis of flight tests, diagnosis and reparation of failure cases, certification for flight and delivery to client.
