While continuing my studies I became the Stock Controller for the Gauteng and Kwa-Zulu Natal Region for a company that specialised in the fermentation of different Vinegars and Oils. During my role as Stock Controller I had to oversee the transition of Stock Analysis Systems from an old warehouse supplier to a new in April of 2013. As a result of this I was able to create, implement and control an entirely new replenishment system. The system was constantly improved to a point where all warehouses were tightly monitored and efficiently run.Monthly stock counts were conducted by myself and all relevant information captured into an excel driven data sheet which I created and analysed by the Accountant at Head Office.The CHEP account was also under my control which was run through their online system. Stock counts were done weekly. All paper work relating to the account was properly filed and organised by myself.

Replenishment Controller

After working for 4 months in the Receiving department of TFD Jupiter Warehouse I was granted the opportunity to experience what it was like to work at the Head Office. My chosen role was to become part of the Replenishment Team to organise and coordinate where stock movements should be allocated and create orders when levels were low. The FMCG industry is extremely unstable and requires a constant focus. Customer satisfaction is key when dealing with big names in the industry. My role was to initially help out where possible by creating orders for low stock levels, allocating truck loads of vital goods and monitoring merchandise levels in warehouses country wide. Once I was comfortable in my position I showed the confidence to accept a role in taking on a big client and ensure that their needs were met.I enjoyed my responsibility in the position as it exposed me to all different devisions of the company. The Replenishment department was the first point of contact for customers and principals when variances in documents arose, complications within the distribution model showed face, new trends in sales were predicted and if other departments were not cooperating it was the responsibility of the Replenishment team to rectify errors, follow up on queries etc. My resignation came 3 weeks before my contract was planned to end. I was asked by the Replenishment Manager Bonnie Ritson to join the department on a permanent basis. I accepted the offer and my application was sent to the Board of Directors. After consideration my application was rejected due to my family's ties with the competing organisation - Super Group Ltd.

After travelling 76km every day to JHB from the Vaal to attend my part time classes I decided that it would be in my best interests to work during the times I had free. I was given a Job by TFD Network Africa CEO Nico Koekemoer as a logistics trainee. I was placed in the Jupiter Warehouse where I worked in the Receiving Department. My early days asked that I help receive in stock using a WMS system, help offload Messaris Trucks, organise used pallet into rows and tidy up the truck yard. I then progressed into the office where I learnt how to use the Proteus System to capture invoices into the system. Through this I learnt how to work in conjunction with the WMS. As I got better I was then given a computer and log in where I then started attending to customer queries. I would problem solve reasons for variances, wrong capturing, late arrivals, split invoices, etcetera. I learnt how to deal with customers, reply to emails and make system connections and call in different departments when solving queries. I then became an asset to the Receiving Department's office that I ended staying in the department longer than expected before moving to TFD Head Office as a replenishment controller.
