The FA National Serious Case Panel deals with disciplinary issues arising from improper conduct and discrimination issues in grassroots football nationally. Sitting with other panel members as a Disciplinary Commission I to hear and rule upon allegations brought by County Football Associations nationally in relation to alleged breaches of FA Disciplinary Regulations.

The Independent Review Pool (IRP) carries out a review and tribunal service for the disciplinary and eligibility functions of the CII. Members of the IRP are independent of the Chartered Insurance Institute.

Independent adjudicator and a member of the Centre for Effective Dispute Resolution consumer panel. Undertaking adjudications and arbitrations in across a number of different sectors. I also serve on the FA Serious Case Panel, the British Judo Associations Complaints Commission and as a legal member of the Chartered Insurance Institute Review Pool.

Serving as a member of the national body for the Olympic Sport of Judo's Complaints Commission I investigate and adjudicate on allegations of misconduct and breaches of BJA rules.

I provided legal and policy regulatory advice to the ICAEW Regulatory Board. Managed relationships with oversight bodies to ensure compliance with the terms of authorisation to regulate legal services. Steered through new policies to improve transparency, including the publication of Board papers, public engagement and new regulatory requirements for those authorised by ICAEW to undertake probate.

An unremunerated honorary role I served as Secretary to the oldest and largest judo club in the United Kingdom. I provided a secretariat function to the executive committee, oversaw elections, AGMs, constitutional changes and managed club staff including dealing with contracts, remuneration and conduct issues.

I led a team of legally qualified dispute resolution specialists and oversaw the work of external panellists on a variety of consumer dispute schemes. I liaised with subscribing commercial companies, consumer rights groups, regulatory authorities, and the public to ensure CEDR delivered fair, proportionate, legally correct, accessible and consistent decisions.

Leading the Standards and Advice function I managed a team of legally qualified advice officers advising veterinary professionals, and the public, on required standards and law for the practice of veterinary surgery. I handled the most serious, sensitive and complex issues and provided a policy, legal advice and secretariat function to the RCVS Council’s Standards Committee and sub-committees. Selected Achievements: Represented the RCVS in meetings at Government Agencies including the Home Office, DEFRA and CMA Advised the chief investigator and prosecution team on the standards and breach threshold  Undertook reviews of the RCVS position on dangerous dogs, the prescribing of homeopathic and alternative veterinary medicines, tail docking/ mutilation and proposed regulations for equine identification Advising on the mutual recognition of qualifications, compliance and conflict issues, implications of EU exit on veterinary surgeons certification of animal exports, governance and the constitution of committees

I led on changes to secondary legislation removing the last vestiges of self-regulation in midwifery. I managed, a team of highly skilled senior policy officers. I developed new and managing existing stakeholder relationships including with government departments and health sector regulators. Responsibility for EU policy included new language requirements, recognition of professional qualifications and the NMC response to EU exit. Selected Achievements: Provided options, within existing legislation, for alternative educational institutional oversight arrangements Reviewed and advised the Council on possible conflicts between the proposed scope of the remit of a new patient safety investigations branch and the NMC’s statutory duty to regulate nurses and midwives  Interpreted the scope of new regulations for reporting whistleblowing and led on the development of an internal operational policy I also represented the NMC at whistleblower stakeholder  Delivered a policy and operational approach to scale back NMC guidance on prescribing and medicines management to bring them in line with an outcome focused regulatory approach

An advisory role I dealt with queries from legal professionals, students and members of the public on a myriad of issues including, standard contractual terms, conduct, complaint processes, joining the profession and regulation. I trained staff in regulation theory, the Code of Conduct, risk-based regulation and enforcement. I advised the Board, and Committees, on regulatory risks and detailed options to mitigate any harm to the public.Selected Achievements:  Represented the BSB at Ministerial round tables on new legislation impacting the Bar and public interest Drafted and managed consultations on controversial changes to the Bar Code of Conduct Trained judges and legal advisers at the Bar Tribunal and Adjudication Service on the BSB approach and Code  Established and managed key relationships including with the Judicial Appointments Commission, Solicitors Regulatory Authority, Security Industry Authority, Legal Services Board and the Cabinet Office

I advised on law, court procedure, legislation, case law and applicable guidance in the criminal, family and youth court. I exercised delegated judicial powers including to take pleas, set trial dates, grant adjournments, extend bail and issue witness summons. I undertook case reviews, assessed trial readiness and agreed directions. I drafted advice, undertook research and dealt with judicial review applications and case stated appeals.Selected Achievements:  Drafted responses to the High Court on applications for appeal by way of judicial review and case stated Advised on applications including for police search warrants and closure orders and mental health warrants Reviewed and adjudicated on applications for private prosecutions including from high profile applicants Attained and exercised delegated judicial powers in the adult, youth and family court

I conducted a review of the Commissions legislative framework and drafted the JAC response to a Government green paper reconsidering the Commissions powers. I also led on a number of substantial issues on the use and handling of reserve lists, qualifying tests and the legality of extending the definition of ‘merit’ to include social and cultural considerations. I supported the Courts Director and managed the Commissions secretariat team Selected Achievements Researched and prepared recommendations for an alternative JAC governance structure, drafted the JAC response to the Government consultation paper: Governance of Britain Procured and managed the development of a tailored in-house training package for all JAC staff Prepared the Courts Directorate bid for funds from the MoJ in collaboration with finance colleagues  Delivered refinements to the judicial selection exercise process improving value for money and efficiency

Lead official for public order policy and associated sections of the Serious Organised Crime and Police Act 2005. I provided a secretariat function to a cross agency Ministerial level meeting chaired by the Attorney General and managed three executive officers. I drafted Ministerial briefing, advice, correspondence, speeches, verbal and written answers to Parliamentary questions on public order and domestic extremism. Selected Achievements Drafted proposals to the Sentencing Guidelines Council to make domestic extremism an aggravating factor  Co-ordinated the roll out of the NFDE sharing protocol and awareness training for domestic extremism  Drafted the practitioner guidance for the changes to public order offences included in new legislation Represented the Attorney Stakeholder events including representatives from the media and industry

I researched the drivers of public confidence and ways that improved communications and joined up working could help to increase the overall public impression of the Criminal Justice System (CJS).
