During my tenure as Bud Clark Commons' RCSC, I served vulnerable Portlanders experiencing chronic houselessness. My responsibilities included:• Collaborating with community partners including Bridges Collaborative Care Clinic, Lift Urban Pantry, Meals on Wheels, Multnomah County Health Department, OHSU and Outside In to provide support and harm reduction services to residents. I also worked with Portland Street Medicine to install a low-barrier wound care supplies station at BCC.• Supporting Resident Specialists with training, problem-solving, break coverage, developing pro-social activities and de-escalating emergent crises. • Securing grants with an equity focus, including nearly $10,000 in Metro Regional Refresh funds.• Assessing resident needs and advocating to fill service gaps.• Facilitating social events, mediating conflicts, and fostering resident self-advocacy to build community.• Performing intake and assessment of people currently experiencing houselessness for Multnomah County’s Coordinated Housing Access system.• Providing training to Home Forward staff and residents on the use of Naloxone/Narcan.

My Advanced Macro Practice internship with Home Forward gave me the opportunity to support its Community Services and Policy and Planning departments. During my tenure, I:• Revised Community Services' Policy & Procedures Manual with a focus on equity and Anti-Oppressive Practice in collaboration with department leadership. A Racial Equity Impact Assessment was conducted to ensure proposed changes were not perpetuating racial harm.• Supported Home Forward’s Director of Policy and Planning on internal and external policy goals, including analysis of national Moving to Work agency programs and Home Forward's Section 8 Administrative Plan.• Collaborated with Home Forward residents, Community Services leadership and the design and consulting firm Ideas42 to reimagine new resident welcoming procedures.• Began serving on Bridges Collaborative Care Clinic’s Board of Directors as Home Forward's agency representative. BCCC is a free, student-run clinic that provides health and social services that are participant-centered and utilize a trauma-informed approach.

I was a Resident Services Coordinator to 3 low-income buildings in Downtown Portland, providing services focused on ensuring housing success and financial stability to underserved communities. This included: • Eviction prevention, including connecting residents to Oregon Emergency Rental Assistance Program funds • Employment, career and transportation support• COVID-19 vaccination facilitation• Increasing access to food bank resourcesI also advocated on behalf of residents to Portland City Council in support of PBOT's Transportation Wallet for Residents of Affordable Housing pilot program. The program was subsequently expanded into the Transportation Wallet: Access for All program which took effect in Spring 2023.

As an Assistant Community Manager, I connected low income and houseless seniors in Downtown Portland to Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) and Project Based Section 8 affordable housing. I worked with Home Forward, Multnomah County Aging and Disability, Transition Projects and other local social service agencies to ensure best outcomes for tenants. I conducted 176+ LIHTC initial certifications and recertifications annually to maintain program compliance. Additionally, I oversaw the job duties of two resident Building Monitors and coordinated with Maintenance Technicians to sustain the health and safety of the building.

Living Cully is a collective impact coalition that unites four non-profit community development organizations (Habitat for Humanity Portland Region, NAYA, Hacienda CDC and Verde) in a collaborative, long-term, community-led effort to improve the quality of life for people of color and low-income people in Northeast Portland’s Cully neighborhood — and ensure that Cully will always be a place where people of color and low-income people can live and thrive. During my internship, I served on the Community Engagement Committee for the Cully Tax Increment Financing Project, specializing in outreach to people experiencing houselessness. In collaboration with community members and Prosper Portland, the Cully TIF District was established by the City Council in November 2022.I also • Supported community organizing in mobile home parks• Coordinated with service providers including Multnomah County ADVS and Legal Aid Services of Oregon in eviction prevention efforts, and • Performed outreach to community members for the Oregon Emergency Rental Assistance Program.

The New York City Trans Oral History Project is a community archive devoted to the collection, preservation and sharing of trans histories. As part of my Senior Year Capstone at PSU, I transcribed and edited several interviews of trans and non-binary folks.
