As I have worked with bearings over the years, I've had the opportunity to work with a wide range of customers and suppliers to provide technical solutions to their issues. When I started work at GM, there were many issues with wheel bearings that needed to be fixed. By working closely together with the suppliers and the GM teams, I was able to move from spending over $25,000,000 in warranty every year to best in class warranty and performance. I have a very strong technical background in bearings. Most of my career I have specialized in wheel bearings and bearing seals, but I also have experience with ball bearings, tapered bearings, needle bearings, constant velocity joints and wheel speed sensors. I have worked with most global OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers. At GM, as BOM Family Owner of Wheel Bearings, I developed a strategy that reduced bearing warranty over 90% and also reduced bearing friction. This strategy moved GM from worst in class to the lead group of OEMs. That work was done with strong communication and collaboration between GM and suppliers.I have an understanding of OEM needs to help balance design proposals and provide alternate designs to maximize customer satisfaction and profit. I have also led teams for DFSS projects and invented new solutions to fix issues, such as capped non-driven bearings and unique wheel speed sensors to reduce drag and warranty.I’ve worked in all phases of vehicle and bearing development from conception and launch of production, to warranty and applying lessons learned for future development. I enjoy the challenge of managing multiple projects at once, and the reward of successfully guiding a project from conception to completion.
