In conceiving and founding Sitting Lab, my intention is to be a creatively innovative force for profound societal transformation. I am accomplishing this by helping meditators of all kinds gather, connect, and support each other to establish a regular and deepening sitting practice that enables them to realize their full human potential for wisdom and compassion. Sitting Lab makes having a regular and deepening meditation practice simple, easy, and enjoyable. Anyone can join us to start sitting together and forming meaningful relationships that support your meditation practice to grow and your life to transform.MY BACKGROUND:I discovered Vipassana meditation practice as a novice monk in a Thai forest monastery in 1993. I then spent six years as a Soto Zen Buddhist monk at Tassajara, Zen Mountain Center, a remote mountain monastery in Big Sur, California. In 2000, I was ordained as a Zen priest and later received the highest level of ordination ("Dharma Transmission") from my root teacher, Norman Fisher. Beginning in 1993, I traveled regularly to India and Nepal to study Tibetan Buddhism and received teachings and empowerment from various teachers, including His Holiness, the 14th Dalai Lama. I've also travelled extensively in Mexico, Central, and South America.For more than two decades, I've led groundbreaking organizations that bring meditation and mindfulness to people worldwide. In various roles, I've led two hundred people staffs, raised many millions of dollars, guided multiple strategic planning processes, and launched dozens of new products and programs.For over 20 years, I've guided people to establish and deepen their mediation practice. I have designed and led classes, workshops, and retreats, offering in-person and online courses on the principles and practices of meditation for everyday life, including for business and educational environments.
