I am an accountancy graduate (Birmingham College of Commerce {Birmingham City University}) and qualified Chartered Accountant. I trained with Spicer and Pegler (now Deloitte) in Leeds before joining HPH (the then Pulleyn Heselton) as a Manager in September 1981 and became a Partner in July 1987. I retired as a Partner on 30 June 2021, becoming a Consultant with the firm from 1 July 2021.During my time at HPH I led the Charities’ Team and had specific responsibilities within the firm for Finance and Practice Development. I represented the firm on Accelerate Community committees in the Not-for-Profit and Marketing areas, helping to determine national policies throughout the Accelerate Community.Within my specialist area my client portfolio included a range of charities (both local and national), independent schools, churches and religious organisations, and clubs and friendly societies.My wider interests outside the working environment include participation as trustee, adviser and treasurer with a number of local charities and churches. I also act as Independent Examiner for a number of charitable organisations. I enjoy "switching off" by tending to my garden and exploring the Yorkshire countryside. My 5 young grandchildren also keep me active!!I was awarded the Diploma in Charity Accounting by the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales in September 2008, achieving one of the highest marks in the country.Specialties: Charities & Not-For-Profit Organisations
