About Robin Charman

Semi-retired from NorthwesTel since December 2011, I bring with me over 38 years of experience in the telecommunications industry, with emphasis in Customer Service delivery. Most recently NorthwesTel asked me to return to work as part of their Modernization Project preparing our Switching, Transport and CCS7 networks for Local Number Portability and entry into the competitive home phone market. As shown in my attached resume I have an excellent knowledge or transmission and network design, class 4/5 switching management including Traffic / voice network capacity planning – including troubleshooting, call flows and call routing, familiarity with telephony routing and translations configuration.Through my job I have become proficient in the use of PC’s with Windows. This has also resulted in an excellent knowledge of many PC applications, such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Microsoft Access and a variety of communications programs and telecommunications vendor specific software. I also have a good self-taught knowledge of the internal workings of the PC, including set-up, installation and repair. I have a basic knowledge of networking of PCs and a good knowledge of the Internet.Working in a team environment has been vital to the development and implementation of a centralized remote maintenance program and provisioning department. Each member of the Network Services Support team is conversant in all areas of the department. As the team lead, this has been an exciting challenge to help maintain CTRC regulated service levels within NorthwesTel’s large service area and small population base, which is spread sparsely over a very large area. My career with NorthwesTel has afforded me many other opportunities to be a member and a leader on a variety of teams for the installation and implementation of Network and Customer Premise systems and most recently NorthwesTel’s modernization project.
