I have a passion for creative ideas, entrepreneurial ventures and building supply and demand in many arenas, but specifically local food systems has my heart.My expertise is in incubating new programs, transforming stagnant initiatives into highly productive ventures, and developing and implementing strategic marketing campaigns with strong returns on investment. I seek collaborations with like-minded professionals and foster mutually rewarding relationships leading to dynamic outcomes. I’m intensely committed to local, place-based asset-building and problem solving, especially if it addresses environmental issues. Specifically, at 21 Acres, I set over-arching priorities and stimulate new ventures. I also solve value-chain problems and thus helped launch two successful food hubs.In my prior position with UNC, I directed research and entrepreneurial projects related to local foods, agriculture, and economic impacts addressing health disparities. I was fortunate to manage a leading Innovation Laboratory titled, “Linking Local Sustainable Farming and Health” which examined the question, “Can eating local address obesity, the environment and economic viability?” I’ve written and served on grants teams to develop agriculture, food insecurity, and food justice projects and have played a key role in community-based participatory research.Earlier in my career I led multi-million-dollar commercial development and real estate projects in the health care field, directed significant membership programs, managed farmers markets operations and served investment partners in big business – wildly different ends of the spectrum! I have extensive sales management expertise and have trained many effective teams to meet aggressive revenue goals. The underlying theme is that I’m committed to environmental issues and climate action; I can’t get enough of entrepreneurial ventures with a strong ROI; and I’m continually on the lookout for new synergistic opportunities.
