My credentials include a Master’s Degree in secondary education, which was attained at UMBC and a Bachelor’s Degree in History with a minor in psychology, a Maryland State Department of Education advanced professional certification, and 14 years of instructional experience in Anne Arundel County Public Schools.I am currently the Social Studies Department Chair and have held this position since 2020. I have taught 6th, 7th and 8th grades at Northeast Middle School for the past 15 years since my student internship at Meade High School in 2008. During my time at Northeast, I have taught varied student groups that have provided me with innumerable educational opportunities as a professional. Each year prior to becoming department chair, I worked collaboratively with a co-teacher and practiced various co-teaching models. I have also worked with accelerated students and provided them with rigorous lessons that allowed them to expand their knowledge beyond average classroom techniques. I am constantly seeking new opportunities to gain knowledge about technology in the classroom and creative lesson planning.In addition to my teaching experience, I have also been an Interdisciplinary Team Leader for 10 years. During this time, I have worked with a variety of teachers and provided leadership and guidance to several new teachers. I have been the Faculty Council Chairperson for 9 years and the Teacher’s Association of Anne Arundel County faculty representative at my school for the past 7.
