Lead Engineer for a team of Engineers, delivering design and analysis support to a wide variety of customers with a comprehensive approach to solving design problems. With my extensive experience of structural design of complex product assemblies and components, I ensure that we leverage FEA tools most effectively to optimise designs for performance and cost effectiveness. I project manage a variety of projects concurrently, providing tailored support to our customers from FEA validation projects to turn-key projects that provide concept, design and CAE validation, to production ready drawings delivered directly into the customers PDM and engineering change management system.I have led process improvement, implementing project management and quality assurance tools to ensure that a consistent, high quality of work is reliably delivered to all customers.I have further enhanced the technical capabilities at Axiscades in FEA by exploring the field of non-linear analysis to predict component contact behaviour and post-yield material behaviour. In addition to developing technical expertise, I have provided professional mentoring and design guidance to our junior Engineers.

As structures design lead at Axiscades on projects for customers including JLG and Caterpillar, I was responsible for quoting, project management and delivery of design and FEA projects developing new structural components and work-tools.Whilst working on site at JLG on behalf of Axiscades, I took lead design responsibility for the telescopic boom and chassis assemblies from prototype design stage to introduction into series production. I implemented design changes based on results from functional and strain gauge testing and from the pilot build feedback. I led the UK design support for the manufacturing team in Romania for the large welded fabrications and boom assemblies. The design and production support work undertaken by me proved important in ensuring the main structural elements met the cost targets, helping the project become the most successful new Telehandler project launch for JLG by exceeding the cost reduction targets and achieving success as a low cost machine for the rental market.

Working on site for JLG Industries on behalf of Axiscades, I was responsible for the design of a 3-section telescopic boom assembly and the attachment couplers for a new range of rental spec. Telehandler. I developed from a clean sheet the new boom structures using Creo Simulate to guide efficient use of material. I also introduced a new low-cost solution for the rolling hydraulic hoses.I was responsible for ensuring the quality of the final GD&T drawings for the welded fabrications and machine sub-assemblies that I designed. I supported the manufacturer of the fabrications and for assembly of prototype parts.

During the economic downturn, as a research assistant, I was responsible for delivery of the physical, chemical and nutritional testing for a programme mapping the attributes of over 100 varieties and cooking processes of peanuts. This experience exposed me to a wider application of science and technology in an industry new to me and further developed my methodical and scientific approach to problem solving.

As a Quality Engineer I had responsibility of providing line side quality support to the motorcycle engine assembly and machining lines at the manufacturing and assembly facility in Hinckley. I provided Quality Assurance support in problem solving, parts inspection and root cause analysis of quality issues. I became proficient in the use of metrology tools (Vernier calliper, micrometer, CMM etc) to establish conformity to drawings. I was first point of contact for Suppliers and Design Engineering to provide rapid resolution and containment of quality issues.
