Operations Manager
Director Of Operations
As Director of Operations, I oversee all activities that support the products and services that go out the door and reach the customer. Most of my job consists of continuously improving the processes that go into these products. For that reason, one of my proudest achievements is streamlining operations for significant cost savings in the Midwest and Mid-Atlantic locations. To support process redevelopment, I’ve focused on developing standardized operating procedures that can be replicated and transplanted to any location with equal success. One of the biggest sources of cost reduction has been renegotiating vendor contracts for equipment; we’ve obtained $100K in annual cost savings, just by speaking with our vendors.I’m also responsible for monitoring sales and retail operations. Internally, I collaborate with headquarters to keep abreast of sales initiatives and communicate new plans and strategies to employees. The line of communication runs the other way as well; I also gather key data and statistics from the floor of operations, contributing KPI reporting to the C-suite so they can make informed decisions about the long- and short-term goals of the business.
Operations Manager
In this position, I managed day-to-day operations of shipping, receiving, and rental repair. When equipment comes in, the faster it goes back out, the more revenue we make. For this reason, I focused my efforts on restructuring our inventory management.Assisting me were a staff of 57 in the warehouse and fabrication shop combined. Together, we analyzed our inbound/outbound processes, identified weaknesses, and made changes to warehouse layout to increase efficiency and drive revenue growth.
Operations Manager
In this role, I took ownership of operations continuity during a time of rapid growth for the business. That growth included significant capital expenditures to relocate warehouses to New Jersey and construct new office space in New York. These projects were especially challenging given the structure of the business. With three distinct revenue centers, creating continuity plans during times of relocation required detailed knowledge of each area of the business. I took ownership of the projects and scouted locations, managed vendors, and implemented the business continuity plans we had so painstakingly created. In addition to managing the business’s capital expenditures, I worked to create direct pipelines to bring customer feedback into the warehouse. Having seen that client complaints weren’t being addressed until the inventory was already out the door, I made it a priority to create channels to give customers a voice in the moment their orders were being processed.
North East Regional Sales Manager
As Regional Sales Manager, I boosted revenue growth in the Northeast with a stellar record of large, high-touch sales. It was my responsibility to lead the sales team by example in all areas, including customer acquisition and product demonstrations. To help develop new business, I paid specific attention to strategic relationships with our highest-performing channels, distributors, and even competitors. With strong vendor relationships and accurate industry benchmarking, I consistently met and exceeded quotas, leading the region in closing major deals with a personal touch.
North American Director Of Operations
In this position, I led the warehouse operations of a large entertainment and technology supplier in Canada and the USA. In one of my earliest positions, I honed the LEAN process improvement skills I use today. After developing an understanding of warehouse workflow, I set about optimizing how inventory entered and left the warehouse.I also ran point on all major relocation projects, from vendor management to ensuring projects stayed in budget and on time. One of my proudest achievements was leading the transformation team that developed equipment to automate repetitive functions in the warehouse. As a result, we improved safety and decreased workers’ compensation claims. In this position, I approached my job with a revenue growth, cost reduction mindset. One of my biggest responsibilities was implementing the merger of the corporate and production functions and building them a home in the same company space. As part of this project, I designed the layout for a new 225k sq/ft warehouse that met the needs of both corporate staff and warehouse workers.Much of my day-to-day activities revolved around our workforce. I negotiated union contracts and mentored sales/production staff. I also monitored the team’s progress in closing sales with local, regional, and national accounts.Along the way, I found time for a few additional cost savings, including a 20% decrease in supplier consts (18% overall). I also wrote the book, literally, on standard operating procedure for all the processes and inputs that went into our products and services.
