This was a short-term contract role on the Writing Team working on TERA content, including localization of quests, monsters, NPCs, and regions.

Osaka, Japan

Team-taught English under the supervision of Japanese English teachers, providing students with practice and feedback. Developed lesson plans, designed materials, and adjusted as needed to hit each class's level of proficiency. Taught at two junior high schools in Kainan, plus quarterly visits to various elementary schools in the Kainan school district.

Worked to clean up TERA's community forums, changing frustrations into feedback, and using that to drive new community initiatives. Worked alongside the community manager to design and implement several in-game events, as well as handled in-game moderation. Liaised between the community and the customer support and operations teams, providing feedback and seeking answers to improve communication with the playerbase. This was a short-term contract position.

Developed naming scheme for thousands of in-game creatures.Wrote multiple pieces of short fiction for marketing efforts, and helped develop and drive the tie-in fiction project for TERA, as well as authoring one of the short stories, "Fire and Ice." Skilled at creating, testing, and publishing ebooks in both .mobi and epub formats. Also performed quality assurance checks on pre-release content, reporting and fixing bugs as needed, and localized release notes for our target audience.

Member of the Creative Writing Team, rewriting quests, dialogs, and item text to localize Aion content translated from Korean. Responsible for helping to bring a Western sensibility to the story and characters and for ensuring AAA quality in text I produced. Edited quests, dialogs, and item text as well as contributed to the Aion Lore internal wiki, which will serve as a resource for Aion for the life of the product. Performed quality assurance checks on pre-release content, reported and/or fixed bugs as needed, and assisted production team with audio, assigning appropriate audio dialog to NPCs in game. Also localized release notes from translated Korean, rewriting them for the target audience.

Provided primary desktop support for office clients as well as out-of-town personnel. Provided basic account administration in Active Directory, set up and deployed Dell and Lenovo equipment according to company standards, and cleared a 6 month backlog of trouble-tickets. Surveyed, evaluated, and inventoried company equipment, focusing on IT assets.

Support and maintain approximately 500 Class II gaming systems, providing hardware and software troubleshooting, as well as end-user support. Managed significant portions of migration project to new facility, including equipment setup, procedural documentation, wireplant testing. In addition, provide technical assistance and container-level administrative support for staff of approximately 200.

Regime Crimes Liaison Office: Iraq Mass Graves Team; Served as database manager for multiple MS Access databases as well as primary network and technical resource for 30+ person field team. Required to restore existing databases to working state and construct new databases from scratch, integrating team forms and functionality as required. Responsible for database backups, documentation and training.Also worked as forensic technician, cataloging human remains, documenting trauma, assisting with X-ray collection, photography, and skeletal reconstruction.

Configured, tested, and deployed systems to E&Y standards, troubleshot problems in service queue, and performed NetWare container-level administration. In addition, was primary administrator for data backups for several client offices.

Provided desktop and network support for 12 schools, including Macintosh and Windows systems.
