I’m a Creative Technology and Innovation specialist with well over two decades of commercial experience developing and launching services for the latest platforms. I consult on a wide range of digital and creative projects, run Research & Development programmes and advise on the use of AI in the media sector. I like to work on a portfolio of really different projects simultaneously, as they then all benefit from more innovative and diverse insights - so if you've got an interesting project, big or small, get in touch. After running a web design and marketing consultancy during the mid-90s, I have spent the majority of my career managing new digital services and teams in the BBC. I’ve worked with many of the BBC’s biggest brands and services, in almost every genre; from creating immersive games for Doctor Who, to working on VR experiences for the Six Nations, from building the first mobile local news sites for BBC News, to being Editor for the BBC Consumer site. From its first websites to streaming, Mobile Apps to Social Media, I played a critical role in the growth of BBC Wales' digital audience; from hundreds, to thousands, to millions of users.I ended my time at the BBC as Head of Innovation, in Wales working on applied innovation with BBC Research & Development, leaving to form SHWSH, a creative technology consultancy. Current areas of interest include Artificial Intelligence, particularly fine-tuning generative AI and motion capture, and the use of Games Engines in broadcasting, although I have extensive experience developing formats and services for VR, AR, spatial sound and interactive video.
