At Tweed I worked on the research and development team in the tissue culture lab. At Tweed we work with Cannabis by taking small ex-plants at the nodes of different strains of Cannabis mother plants. Preparing media and other chemical solutions to initiate plant growth was the main tasks. The research that I am involved with is the cryopreservation of Cannabis cultures.

At Algonquin College I work in the laboratory where all the Labs for Biotechnology, Wastewater, and General Arts and Science labs are held. The tasks that I do is the prep work for the labs that take place throughout the week. This includes making media, chemical solutions, bacterial cultures and assisting the Professor with any of their needs.

At the Canadian Food Inspection Agency I work in a level 1, histology laboratory. This is the analysis of abnormal tissue samples sent from meat suppliers. These samples are grossed/trimmed to a size that gives a general cross section of the whole sample. The tissue has the water replaced with wax so that the samples can be embedded onto a cassette and thinly sliced. This allows for the tissue to be stained to be able to analyse for bacteria or cancer.
