Duties of Compounding Lab Manager below as well as PIC/PDM responsibilities; maintaining compliance with Florida state regulations for a retail/community pharmacy and compliance with USP 795 non-sterile compounding guidelines; ensuring compliance with multiple state pharmacy regulations for dispensing and shipping

Direct supervision and training of staff lab pharmacists and lab technicians; control of inventory for the compounding lab portion of the pharmacy; occasional running of the retail pharmacy when needed; compounding of non-sterile products including topical creams/ointments, nasal and oral solutions, capsules, troches, suppositories, Veterinary meds, and others; patient consultation on use of compounded medications; consultation with prescribers on formulations for desired effects; entering and verifying all compound formulations in system for accuracy before first use and after each log of compounding

Accurate and efficient prescription processing including data entry, drug utilization review, physician and patient contact when necessary regarding drug utilization and safety, and patient counseling. Trainer and subject matter expert for several work areas of the pharmacy, including drug utilization review, data entry, quality assurance, physician contact, and prescription processing program enhancement. Active participation in several Kaizen events to enhance specific work area processes for efficiency and cost, as well as provided input as a subject matter expert for updating standard work instructions for various areas such as drug utilization review, prescriber contact, and professional review. Direct involvement and facilitation with Visual Management Boards, providing staff pharmacists with updates on live work area queue counts, work areas needing improvement on efficiency and/or quality, and other daily workflow updates

Direct supervision of staff pharmacists for drug utilization and quality assurance work areas, including scheduling assistance and shifting work areas based on queue counts, one-on-one coaching and training for performance enhancement and quality concerns, quality audits for procedure, and work floor assistance. Trainer and subject matter expert for several work areas of the pharmacy, including drug utilization review, data entry, quality assurance, and physician contact. Worked directly with the systems development team on enhancement of the current prescription processing program.
