CurrentAs Director of the Office of Architecture and Engineering I Supervise the delivery of professional architectural and engineering services in support of the Office of Healthcare Programs for the Section 242 program and Section 232 program. Our office coordinates Architectural and Engineering (A&E) contact with the applicant and any State agencies.My staff and I direct the A&E activities of OHP during the pre-application and application processes, from initial contact through final endorsement and coordinate with project Account Executives. We are also responsible for physical inspections of hospitals in the insured portfolio, reporting of discrepancies, and advising hospitals of corrective actions required. Our goal is to ensure a high level of customer service in communications with and assistance to applicants and portfolio hospitals. I supervise and guide staff assigned to the New York, Fort Worth and Santa Ana Offices, establish their general work priorities, and evaluate performance. I provide orientation, supervision and training to staff concerning the A&E activities and application endorsement process. I lead and foster organizational responsiveness for assigned functions maintaining effective working relationships with staff throughout Housing and advise the Director of OHP on all A&E related matters. I am currently working on upgrading our management system for internal control of projects to include assignment, tracking, reporting, and output. Other duties can include representing and speaking for the Office Director at meetings with key officials of the Department, other Federal agencies, state agencies, Congressional staff, industry representatives, advocacy groups, and the public, in all matters related to my areas of responsibility.. I also work with other senior staff in developing policies and procedures for the program. Our office also provides A&E support as part of natural disaster assistance team for OHP and other HUD programs upon request.
