MCC is a Fairfax County Special District Agency, which is funded by residents of Small District 1A, Dranesville, through a real estate tax surcharge that is currently 2.3 cents per $100 of assessed values (the MCC Tax District).One of the most important functions of the MCC Board is to review budget proposals and to adopt an annual MCC budget, which is forwarded to the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors for approval. Board Committees assess staff budget proposals beginning in July each year, the Finance Committee gives initial approval, and the full Board adopts budget proposals to forward to the Board of Supervisors by September 30. Board members are expected to be available during budget reviews. Program Committee ChairCommunications Committee Chair Election Committee ChairServed as the Communication Committee and the Election Committee Chairs for the MCC Executive Governing Board. I led effort to develop and advocate best practices for leveraging of virtual platforms for the Center’s Governing Board annual elections. Created over sixty-five (65+) original children’s nature crafts which were published online and in “Ranger Rick” magazines from 2000-2008. Developed and applied original operational effectiveness content for age appropriate target markets for home use. Created over twenty-five (25+) original crafts for “Your Big Backyard” magazine and five (5+) original crafts for “Your Big Backyard” TV Show on PBS from 2006-2007. Each show demonstrated the making of a kid friendly nature craft created for each animal’s wildlife habitat such as a recycled water bottle hummingbird feeder or a birdbath made out of clay pots for backyard birds. Provided creative analysis and product development for nationwide multi-media children’s hands-on learning activities that were developed for the commercial television market via my original nature craft designs. I implemented award winning themes and products for print, web and television target markets and audiences. Also, I developed, created and managed the age appropriate (ages 6-12 and ages 3-5) nature crafts content for two National Wildlife Federation’s children magazine formats. Created five (5) original crafts to appear on the “Martha Stewart TV Show.” In 2006, National Wildlife Federation's naturalist, David Mizejewski, appeared regularly on the Martha Stewart TV Show with nature activities for children to try at homes (2006-2007). Distinction: As a direct result of my creative theme development, I received the Association of American Publishers, “Distinguished Golden Lamp Award and Achievement Award” for “Ranger Rick” and “Your Big Backyard” magazines in Washington, DC (2006).
