Robin is CEO of METMOTEC that offers modems for utility meters for 2G, 3G & 4G-LTE networks. Also, antennas, SIM solutions, optical meter probes and a secure ‘Meter-to-Ethernet’ device.Robin has spent 45 years with computer, electronics and data comms companies, with 18 years in metering, in international sales, marketing and product development in UK and Europe.He entered the computer industry in 1973 selling commercial data processing systems in the City for Mitsubishi. From 1974 to 78 he was salesman and sales manager with Computer Automation selling OEM computers for machine automation. Later he was sales manager at HPA Ltd selling computerised telex systems to international trading companies.In 1982 he set up as a marketing consultant and has worked for 35 clients which included 3 years advising advertising agencies, 2 years with a high-tech industrial design and investment company and 6 years creating strategic marketing plans for grant funded projects managed by Cranfield University and the Chartered Institute of Marketing for the former UK Department of Trade & Industry. He and his company have won five innovation awards. In 2016 he re-launched his business to sell products trading as METMOTEC (Meter & Modem Technology).Robin was educated at St. Peter’s, Southbourne, at the time a private boarding school, where he was Vice-Head Boy, House Captain and Captain of the First XV. He subsequently trained at Mons OCS, part of Sandhurst RMA, and was commissioned 2nd Lieutenant in 1968 (17 Port & Maritime Regiment RCT) and was for a period a Detachment Commander in the Arabian Gulf.Robin is a founder of the Cambridge Enterprise & Technology Club and publisher of the Utilities’ Media Directory. Interests are history, Chinese antiques, and archery.
