While overseeing daily operations, increased the digital staff, created an investigative unit, reassigned beats and refocused weekly publications, achieving documented growth in single-copy sales and dominance of the regional online market. Led paper to six national honors – Scripps-Howard, Society of Professional Journalists, Investigative Reporters and Editors, the Association of Health Care Journalists and the National Association of Black Journalists – the most in its 140-year history.
