There is a wonderful intersection between sales, marketing and leadership... it's a place where brand meets culture and where the magic begins - this is where I play.For many years I've believed that sales isn't a dirty word and that marketing shouldn't be un-needingly complex using lots of jargon which only serves to confuse people. So to put it simply; marketing creates leads and sales closes them whilst leadership creates the right environment for brand (your promise) and culture (your delivery) to align.The power of an idea can change anything from the most simplistic process to a generation. I now call Adelaide home and along with some other crazy volunteers work tirelessly on TEDxAdelaide.I’ve worn many hats, suits, ‘smart-casual’ (whatever that is!) and jeans in my career from working in IT, dot.com, telco and banking, the one common thing is the customer is central to everything.Actually doing things has taught me that my value is centred on;- The customer’s view is everything, understanding how to guide and educate this is therefore pivotal- Leadership casts a long shadow and leadership skills can be taught- Sales is not a dirty word, it’s just how you help your customers- Great businesses require great processes- Measure the right things in business to create the right behaviours, inputs = outputs- I run towards challenges- I like to think big- I like to have fun whilst getting things done- Volunteering teaches us more about who we areI love meeting new people to understand about their business and their customers and preferably drinking great coffee at the same time!
