I am Co-Founder of EpicMeets and Associate Professor of Strategic Management at the Department of Industrial Engineering and Management (TUTA) at Aalto University. I am currently on partial leave from Aalto University to focus on EpicMeets, driving product development and growth, and working with the team to revolutionize communication and collaboration in meetings and workshops. In my research and teaching, I am devoted to two areas. Firstly, I explore how and why new technologies disrupt traditional business strategies and organizational structures, particularly digital platforms and large data sets. This includes a deep dive into the evolving dynamics of the platform economy, assessing innovation policy, regulation, platform design and strategy, competitive advantage in the digital era, data monetization, and the broader spectrum of digital transformation.Equally, I am dedicated to advancing the understanding of visual tools and visual working methods in meetings and workshops. My research in this area is rooted in cognitive psychology and neuroscience, aiming to elevate meeting quality by enhancing participant engagement, attention, and memory retention. This line of inquiry explores how visually engaging working, supported by well-designed facilitation techniques, can make meetings more effective and enjoyable, fostering deeper interaction and more impactful outcomes. Additionally, I apply this research to developing impactful strategy and development workshops that can handle complexities and promote cognitive alignment in professional settings.My research has been published in top-tier journals, such as the Academy of Management Journal, International Journal of Management Reviews, Information Systems Research, Research Policy, Research in the Sociology of Organizations, MISQExecutive, Technology Innovation Management Review, R&D Management, Technological Forecasting and Social Change, and Organization Studies.I teach advanced courses in strategy, platform economy, platform strategy, innovation, digital transformation, and data monetization at the Bachelor, Master, MBA, EMBA, and doctoral levels. I have specialized in flipped classroom and experienced-based learning methods, including the Harvard case teaching method and LEGO® Serious Play® facilitation method. I am a trained facilitator and frequently work with SMEs and large-company managers and executives, as well as government officials and public sector leaders from all over the world.
