I’VE GONE FROM HOSPITALITY TO SPECIAL CAREGIVING, AND I LOVE IT!As a professional who provided client services throughout a longtime hospitality career, it was a natural evolution for me to take my client-centered approach to working with people with special needs.In fact, the best part of who I am is to work with people one-on-one to find resources to reach their goals or dreams, entertain them, or show them how to cope. Choice TBI Support and Services, a fully certified Vermont Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) home and community-based service provider, is where I work to help reintegrate an individual after a traumatic brain injury. Helping the individual and their family is what I do nearly every day to provide a quality of life they may not otherwise enjoy.After a car accident, I too, suffered from a minor TBI but can manage most of my regular activities and work as before. Working one-on-one with an individual in this circumstance is comforting “fit” for each of us. We get one another and understand both the big and small challenges in an average day.I learn alongside this individual and we achieve simple – but transformational – goals together. CONNECTING WITH MY VOICEConnection is a way of life for me. My most recent gig is providing voiceover work for commercial, businesses, nonprofits, or authors needing to put a voice to the audio version of their book. My voice type lends itself to organizations similar tolike the Red Cross, Heart Association, and others. NEW OPPORTUNITIES ARE ALWAYS ON MY RADARI never stop keeping my radar up to new opportunities.
