I have 6 staff who I co-ordinate and manage, to ensure this effective delivery of services is delivered to all our customers, in a timely manner, and ensure their systems have complete up time.My role extends to racking and unracking servers and network equipment, connecting to the network, ensuring downtime is minimised by engineer co-ordination, effectively communicating with the customer, and ensuring we have 24 x 7 coverage to assist with any issues that may arise.

Administered Wintel systems 24 x 7 using Microsoft System Centre suite (SCCM, SCOM, SCEP). Extra duties saw me responsible for batch setup and problem solving with Control-M scheduling tool. Scope of works included approx. 8000 windows servers, 150 Unix nodes and 100s of Linux servers. The monitoring included OS and many types of applications, from Databases to SAP instances and many forms of Web applications, all involving many types of Management Packs. I was involved in many projects from rolling out upgrades to new installations. I have worked with all types of corporate infrastructures from Exchange, DNS, DHCP, VM, Backups, Lync, SharePoint to SCOM, SCCM, experience in a help desk scenario and even installing hardware in the Data Centre.Working as part of a global support team performing incident resolution, problem management using ITIL best practices.

Responsibilities included looking after all aspects of a global data centre, including air conditioners, wiring, scheduling of customers batch and backups, monitoring off all hardware, tape handling, Disaster recoveries (done at IBM, Sydney), and in charge of operators running 24x7 shifts. This position required on call 24 x 7 for all duties.

This position saw me installing servers in racks in our Data Center and building the OS to standards, to then pass to the application team to complete. Cabling and general health of the servers was also encompassed here.Patching large amounts of varied makes of servers monthly, ensuring the latest patches and Virus software was installed and updating.I also administered the rollout of Networker Legato backup software, to all Asian countries. Then followed this up with training the local IT support person in the countries to ensure a smooth and effective transition.

Responsibilities involved tape movements, weekly IPLing of mainframes and batch monitoring. Daily Data Centre tasks of ensuring alarm systems and BCS systems are operational. Responsible for training operations staff, ensuring shifts are covered and all tasks are completed as required.
