I am a London based composer, producer / engineer and Professor of Electronic and Produced Music at The Guildhall School of Music and Drama. Published by Audio Network and KPM, my music is broadcast daily around the world and can be heard on a wide variety of commercials, documentaries, dramas and radio shows. Recent composition includes a commission for the BIT 20 Ensemble for the 70th Bergen International Festival, Dystopian Dreams, a synth and sound-design based album I co-wrote with composer Chris Warner, The Caves Sessions - a triple album of atmospheric pieces recorded in Chislehurst Caves (20 miles of tunnels with a natural 30 second reverb) and I am currently co-writing and producing an album with cellist Richard Harwood.I have been fortunate to record my music with some of the UK’s finest musicians including soprano Grace Davidson, percussionist Paul Clarvis, drummer Ralph Salmins, saxophonist Tim Garland and strings with the English Session Orchestra at AIR and Abbey Road Studios. I have written additional cues for features Comedown and Wild Bill, composed for short films and animations including nature documentary Hilbre and co-written with Ruth Barrett, Michael J York and DJ Yoda.Work as a recording / mix engineer includes projects for Film and TV composers Joe Kraemer, James Brett, Dame Evelyn Glennie, Chris Warner, Sue Verran, John Altman, Ruth Barrett, Rael Jones, Lorne Balfe, Philip Sheppard, Patrick Hawes, John Metcalfe, Christopher Slaski, Max Richter and Terry Devine-King.Work for artists includes Anna Meredith, The Utopia Strong, Tim Garland and Jason Rebello, Yazz Ahmed, Ant Law, DJ Yoda, Boy George, Modeselektor, John 00 Flemming, Teleplasmiste & Underworld. I am highly experienced working with orchestral and classical music, mixing in surround and working to picture. I have edited, mixed and helped project-manage all 19 albums in Audio Network's Classical Collection series, recorded at Abbey Road. Previously I worked as Director of Business Development & MD of Post Production for AIR Lyndhurst and Strongroom Studios, and before that worked for Avid Technology as the UK's Pro Tools Product Specialist. I am a graduate of the Tonmeister course in music and sound recording.

I joined the Trans-Siberian March Band in July 2008 and two weeks later was playing on Mostar Bridge in Bosnia. A 13 piece Balkan Brass Band, The TSMB play our own arrangements of music from the Balkans, Russia, Turkey, and various other Eastern European countries. We have played numerous UK festivals in including Glastonbury, Secret Garden Party, Henley Festival, The Thames Festival and the Meltdown Festival and at venues including The Union Chapel, Kensington Palace, The Royal Festival Hall, The Barbican Centre and The National Theatre. In 2011 musical director Isabella Fletcher I put together a collaboration with acclaimed DJ and AV artist DJ Yoda, which we have since performed at WOMAD Festival, Bestival, Camp Bestival, Kendal Calling, Shambala Festival, The Camden Roundhouse and The Kentish Town Forum. We are excited to be bringing an new show with DJ Yoda to Glastonbury, Standon Calling, Lovebox and Bestival in 2013. TSMB has been on three international tours, playing shows in Bosnia, Austria, Hungary, Montenegro and Georgia. In 2012 we collaborated with Russian recording artist Igor Gregoriev, which we recorded at Abbey Road studios with producer Haydn Bendal.As well as playing for the band I am part of it's management team, and have put together most of the bands social media and marketing, including a youtube channel with numerous live and promo videos, a website and numerous other web presences such as Bandcamp, Twitter, CD baby, Myspace, Sound Cloud, Last Fm a flickr image library of over 2000 pictures. Through this process i've learned how to use using social media to successfully promote a band. In 2013 I established us a residency at Rich Mix, a venue and arts complex in East London where we will be performing regularly and programming a number of events during the autumn of 2013.I produced the band's first album and have also directed and produced several of the bands promo videos. http://www.transsiberianmarchband.com

AIR Studios is one of the worlds foremost recording and film scoring facilities, established by Sir George Martin in 1969. In 2006 AIR merged with Strongroom and I was appointed Director of Business Development for the group. Group divisions included Strongroom Studios, Strong Hire equipment rental & location recording, AIR Management, AIR Mastering, AIR Post Production and the Strongroom Bar and Restaurant.As a member of AIR's board I was responsible for numerous aspects of the running of the company, including working as Managing Director of the group's post production division which expanded it's facilities, staff and turnover rapidly during the period for which I managed it. This initially was established as Breathe Post Production in 2006 when we merged the post divisions of AIR and Strongroom, and became AIR Post Production in 2008.AIR Post provides full services post facilities to the TV, Film and New Media industries, and I led the company's expansion into picture post facilities through experience i'd gained through working for Avid. I project managed and delivered the group's expansion into a third premises in Singer Street, which houses 18 HD video post production suites.I represented AIR as a speaker at numerous events, including an AES show panel discussion with George Massenburg, a presentation on multi-channel audio for the DVD Association, panelist for Apple for an event with Apogee Electronics and as a panelist for the Televisual Factual Festival.I designed and presented numerous 'in-house' events for AIR including a RED digital cinema workflow event co-hosted with Apple, a FORScene workflow event and an event on DSLR Film Making.Since leaving AIR in 2011 I have been lucky enough to return as a client, recording various projects in the studios, and also count AIR as one of my clients. I have produced several marketing films for the group, and was hired by them to deliver a Guitar Recording Masterclass event, see above for details.

As business development manager for Strongroom I established it's Pro Tools rental division Stronghire, managed it's creative partnership with leading DVD and Blu Ray specialists the Pavement, established and developed post production services at Strongoom intially in audio and then in HD video, and was integral in the design and development of many of the studio facilities. I was responsible for the majority of Strongroom's equipment purchasing and expansion planning during my time there and created much of the company's marketing materials.

I worked for Avid first as a technical support engineer, then as their European customer services manager, and then as senior Pro Tools product specialist for the UK.Through these positions I became highly proficient in the operation and support of Pro Tools systems in both professional music and post production applications. I contributed several features to the design of Pro Tools during this time and was an active beta tester until 2009. I was in regular contact with the Pro Tools Product Marketing team through whom I provided feedback and suggestions for the development of Pro Tools software, mainly focusing on music and MIDI production features.I presented new software and hardware products for major product launches at trade-shows including the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB), IBC and the AES. I was part of the team that worked very closely with the BBC to help them switch their TV centre and Elstree studios audio post over to Pro Tools, and I provided training to many dubbing mixers, post facilities and Pro Tools resellers throughout the UK.Since leaving Avid I have continued to work for them on a freelance basis as a writer for their Digizine publication.

I worked, and lived, at residential studio complex Jacobs Studios in Surrey as the industrial placement of my degree course. During this time I worked as an assistant engineer on recording sessions for artists including Portishead, Kula Shaker, Galliano, Jhelisa Anderson, Goldie, Brian Transeau and Tori Amos and numerous international projects. I worked with producers including Jim Abbiss, Paul Corkett, Tim Weidner, Warn Livesey, Geoff Barrow and Phil Vinall. I also played 'cello as a session musician for Portishead and Galliano. Responsibilities included tape machine line-up, mix re-calls, printing and managing client masters, setting up recording sessions, operating tape machines and pro tools, attending mastering sessions, generally looking after the clients and security and maintenance of the studios. At the time Jacobs had a Neve VR and SSL E series tracking and mix rooms and a Neve mix room. After graduating from the Tonmeister course I went back to work at Jacobs on a freelance basis over a six month period before moving to Digidesign.
