I currently help companies explore current data sets, create stronger data sets, and find stories to drive both business strategy and industry reports. In my role as a journalist and writer, I research and write articles on computer security, cybercrime and enterprise technology for a variety of publications, currently including eWeek, Information Security Magazine, TechTarget, and Tech Beacon.As a data scientist, I've helped companies and universities create reports based on collected data for both strategic and marketing purposes. I use both Python/Pandas/Jupyter Notebook and R/Knitr stacks for analysis and programming/scripting.As a veteran technology journalist of more than two decades and a former research engineer, I've written articles that have appeared in Business Week, CIO Magazine, CNET News.com, Computing Japan, CSO Magazine, Dark Reading, Popular Science, Threatpost, USA Today, Wired News and ZDNet News. I currently specialize in network and computer security, cybercrime, cyber conflict, enterprise technology and space science. I've won five awards for my writing, including the Society of Professional Journalist's National Sigma Delta Chi award for my coverage of the MSBlast/Blaster worm (2003) and a Top-10 Journalist Award for cybersecurity coverage from the SANS Institute in 2010 and 2014.
