USFCS is the trade/investment promotion arm of the U.S. Foreign Service. As Commercial Officer in Malaysia, Director of the International Marketing Center in London, Commercial Attaché in Singapore, Commercial Counselor in Paris, and Minister-Counselor in Ottawa, I helped hundreds of firms find critical information and potential business partners in all my countries, and advocated on their behalf with local Government Agencies to resolve any commercial disputes or issues, and ensure they had no policy issues impeding American clients' success. On return to the USA, I then went to Washington to direct all US Commercial operations in Africa, the Near East and Asia. After winning one Silver Medal for my innovation in creating specific export Teams, and another for overseeing the crisis from the bombing of the US Embassy in Kenya, I was tasked to create a new Commercial Service Institute to train staff worldwide, and to help emerging Governments develop programs and institutions for economic/political development via foreign investment and trade.
