My experience in the landscape industry began in the early 1980's as a teenager working for my father who ran a small company providing residential maintenance services in San Diego. Although I pursued other lines of work over the years, I always retained a sense of appreciation for landscapes, both developed and natural.To date, I have worked as a designer for Metropolitan Water District OC’s Landscape Design Assistance Program, created design templates for Santa Ana Watershed Project Authority’s residential turf rebate program, as well as provided residential garden design services for Irvine Ranch Water District clientele. I have designed demonstration gardens for Central Basin Water District, City of Pasadena, City of West Covina, and City of Monrovia. My specialty is drought-tolerant landscape design and water-wise consultation. A member of the designer in residence program and frequent speaker at Tree of Life nursery in San Juan Capistrano, I have also lectured at Wild Birds Unlimited, UC Cooperative Extension Master Gardeners, Glen Ivy Hot springs, Heritage Museum Santa Ana, and most recently at the 2019 Long Beach, Landscape Expo.Landscapes I’ve designed are regularly featured in garden tours sponsored by the Orange County Chapter, California Native Plant Society, one of which won an award in Roger's Gardens' California Friendly Garden Contest 2011, another receiving an award in 2015. More recently in 2017 and 2018, I have had gardens receive awards from California Landscape Contractors Association, Best of the Best in Brea as well as numerous Houzz awards.Lastly, I have written for, and had gardens featured in, Fine Gardening magazine, as well as Fremontia, the botanical journal of the California Native Plant Society.
