Furness High School

I have taught courses in World History, American History, American Government, African-American History, and Digital Publishing over the past two decades at Furness High School. I have also sponsored a variety of school-based clubs, organizations, and enrichment activities for the benefit of our school community. Finally, I am very proud to have served as the elected Building Representative for the Philadelphia Federation of Teachers.As Career Academy Coordinator I worked closely with Philadelphia Academies Inc. to provide student mentoring, career-focused enrichment, and academic progress monitoring. I facilitated a variety of workshops, internships, and workplace experiences. In addition, I developed and delivered the curricula for CTE courses like: Foundations of Education, Psychology, Hospitality Management. I also led daily PLC meetings of teaching peers to .As the School Based Teacher Leader I provide school-level peer coaching and model best practices while working closely with the Principal as a part of the Leadership Team. I contribute to the development and implementation of the School Improvement Plan, manage and focus our data-driven instruction initiatives, design and deliver professional development, and participate in site selection interviews. I also oversee our SLO, PDP, and MTSS efforts and monitor for state compliance. Finally, as the Assessment Coordinator I oversee the administration of all standardized and diagnostic assessments, including the PSAT, SAT, Keystone, Benchmarks, while leading our Advanced Placement program.I have been identified by University of Pennsylvania Graduate School of Education as a cooperating teacher and have mentored numerous student-teachers while they complete their M. Ed. Program. I have specialized training from the Coalition of Essential Schools, the Johns Hopkins Center for Research and Reform in Education, and the National Career Academy Coalition.

During fourteen years working at Morey's Piers I served in a variety of different roles which are best described as an Operations Management Team member. My primary responsibility was the oversight of daily our staff and operations tasks including: scheduling, payroll, budgeting, general maintenance, quality control, and guest satisfaction. I was also a member of the Risk Management, Cash Control, and Emergency Response teams.I helped design and deliver standardized associate orientation and training modules. I trained and supervised thousands of seasonal associates, facilitated professional development for the Supervisory Team members, developed associate incentive and recognition programs, conducted daily facility safety inspections and audits. All of this was done with a singular goal in mind, to create a "clean, safe, and friendly environment" so that our guest could have an exceptionally memorable experience.
