Obuasi - Ghana

Responsible for the daily running of two major warehousing sites at AngloGold Ashanti's Obuasi Gold Mine, the warehousing sites comprise of twenty six warehouses storing anything from chemicals and engineering spares to critical and insurance mining spares.Managing an inventory of 45,000 line items with a total stock value of $58 mil.Management of over seventy staff, the fleet vehicles and plant to ensure the timely distribution of stock to dependencies over a dispersed mine site.Liaison with Sea and Airfreight forwarders.Some of the notable projects during my term in Obuasi have been as follows:1. The relocation of over 30,000 line items of stock from 14 different warehouses, stores and outside laydown areas at North Stores to warehousing facilities over 6km away. This was a mammoth undertaking in line with the mine’s footprint reduction plan. The management of vehicles, plant, stock and personnel to ensure all items were tracked and transferred to new storage locations without loss (verified by the Q3 100% stock count).2. The planning, construction and transfer of stock to three managed laydown areas closer to mining operations to better house metals and underground development stocks.3. The relocation of the mine’s salvage yard to new premises 6km away. Managing the new facility from liaison with the draughtsman at conception to managing the construction on this greenfield site. All waste including hazardous waste produced on the mine is managed through this facility.4. The implementation of a new warehouse and supply management system (EAM) to better track the cost of spares assigned to underground mobile equipment.All of the above was achieved with reducing manpower (75 personnel at the start of my tenure to a current staff of 33) whilst still servicing the mine with its vast and varied daily needs. Obviously I did not complete the above by myself, but with the hard work and dedication of a now leaner more capable team.

Uk - Sierra Leone

International DOVE is a non-denominational Christian charity formed to cater to the urgent needs of war orphans in Sierra Leone. The orphanage with adjoining school has been home to the same group of kids (with a few additions) since cessation of hostilities in SL. In conjunction with the needs of this large family, numerous outreach programmes have been established catering to the local and wider community.With the 'children' now at an age to move on into further education, vocational training and employment, the Board has closed the orphanage.
