Director Of Community Inclusion And Advocacy
CurrentAs a pioneer of the Housing First model Pathways to Housing PA takes people off the street and places them directly into housing. Once in the program participants receive comprehensive services from their clinical teams and support from the Community Inclusion and Advocacy Department. The department is comprised of seven Certified Peer Specialists, a Community Inclusion Specialist, a Vocational Specialist, and an Advocacy Coordinator. The CI&A Department presents participants with opportunities to live in the community and be valued for their own unique abilities, like everyone else. Our hope is to help the people we serve reclaim lives though positive community engagement. As the Director of Community Inclusion and Advocacy I help facilitate and support relative independence through the use of both internal and external resources. While we do have some groups in-house we strive to get people out of our office accessing community resources. The Director of Community Inclusion and Advocacy develops and oversees programming while tracking outcomes and assessing goals. With the help of our Community Inclusion, Vocational Specialist, and Advocacy Coordinator participants reveal what they want to do to live a life of quality. Working closely with Clinical Managers we integrate inclusionary practices within team services. Our Certified Peer Specialists are key to meeting program participants where they are and helping them set future oriented goals. Our emphasis on employment helps program participants live fuller and more independent lives in the community. This includes gathering comprehensive employment data from each team and an employment survey of each program participant. In early 2020 we began developing our advocacy efforts by increasing voter registrations, applying for mail-in ballots, and building bridges with other service providers. One of our main goals is to ensure each program participant is counted in the 2020 Census.
