This is a multi-disciplinary or generalist role responsible for all areas of Human Resource Management in an indepenedent boys day and boarding school on the Gold Coast. This role draws on negotiation, mediation, recrutiment, performance management, staff planning and performance, policy review and development, and student protection skills and knowledge requirements associated with staffing in education. The School has around 240 permanent and part-time staff across two campuses with around 1560 students enrolled. One of the key pillars of the School is the strong boarding community and is argueably one of the largest boys boarding schools in Australia and definitely in Queensland with a roll of 300 students from Year 7 to Year 12. Boarding adds complexity and cultural depth to the School which is already steeped in tradition across 12 strong day and boarding houses - tribes within a TSS tribe. This role was a start up HR function responsible for the development and implementation of organisational policy, procedures and generalist HR support across the organisation. The role reported to the Senior Management team and business owners and was primarily responsible for recruitment, retention, and attraction strategies, training and development, the implementation of a bi-annual appraisal processes, performance management, termination, redundancy, and the transition from Work Choices based workplace agreements to modernised awards. This role involved visiting and working with the Branch Managers and their teams as well as working on strategic planning with the Senior Managers and the Business Owners.

This role under the direction of the Flexi-positions Manager was responsible for the formation, implementation and running of a casual/temp workforce across the Flight Centre group encouraging staff members accessing parental leave to return to the industry in casual/temp based positions and part-time roles in stores and support offices across the group. This role involved temp placement and coordination, management of employees accessing parental leave, and working with stores and groups to provide more flexible workplace solutions for employees across the Flight Centre group.

This role was responsible for the safety, welfare, and comfort of passengers travelling internationally across the Air New Zealand international and trans-tasman network. The first three years was spent working in the Economy Class cabins and with the last 5 years operating in the Business and First Class cabins. This role operated across the international fleet of aircraft at the time including 747-400, 767-300, 767-200.
