My current role builds on the responsibilities of my past Senior Director position with additional domestic and international speaking opportunities, as well as interviews with the press. As Vice President, I advised our President through the myriad of changes brought on by the pandemic. Additionally, I served as Assistant Vice Chair for the Chemical Sector Coordinating Council, a coalition of trade associations and senior chemical security personnel who works alongside government partners within the Department of Homeland Security and Environmental Protection Agency to enhance chemical security—working closely with senior agency leadership.

As the staff lead of the Health, Environment, Safety, and Security Committee, I became Chlorine Institute’s primary representative to the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), the Chemical Safety and Hazard Investigation Board (CSB), and the Department of Homeland Security’s Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA). In addition to authoring comment letters in regulatory rulemaking processes, I kept members abreast of emerging regulatory changes and enforcement trends through authoring monthly reports. This role also entailed 1) setting the presentation schedules of, and 2) identifying, inviting and vetting speakers for conferences hosted by my organization. Additionally, I continued leading teams of chlor-alkali experts to update industry-wide guidance. I began this role as a Director and was promoted to Senior Director in April of 2017.

This role was my introduction to trade associations. I led projects to update industry guidance with industry leaders, fielded technical inquiries, and benchmarked injury, illness and environmental performance. I began this role as a Project Engineer and was promoted to Senior Project Engineer in March of 2014.

Central Florida

I worked as an internal consultant that led an intensive fast-track engineering effort to prioritize energy reduction project ideas. These ideas were then pitched to upper management for specially-allocated capital funds. This exciting role involved working closing with consultants from McKinsey & Company over the course of a quarter on our first project prioritization effort. Then my small team led subsequent efforts at different sites. I led and worked on cross functional teams and had to use analytical and people skills to get the job done.

Central Florida

As shift supervisor of the sulfuric acid unit, I oversaw a crew of operators, signed off on safe work permits, and made sure we met our daily production targets and maintenance preparation goals. In this role, I worked 12-hour shifts on a rotating schedule, including days and nights. During night shifts, I retained responsibility for loading and unloading operations.

I designed and performed experiments to determine the solubility of biomass in ionic liquids as a part of greater project to find alternatives to manufacture biodiesel. My research poster was recognized as a prizewinner at Exhibition of Undergraduate Research and Creative Achievement Fair.
