Dutch qualified attorney-at-law (advocaat), working as a Partner and Head of the Brussels' EU law practice within OsborneClarke's Competition, Antitrust and Trade Team in Brussels and Amsterdam. Admitted to the Amsterdam and Brussels (EU-list) bar. Between 2008 and 2010, my main area of practice was corporate (M&A) and commercial law (contract law, litigation). Since 2010, I have been advising clients from various industries on matters related to EU law and competition law. In 2016, I received experience as an inhouse-lawyer at the compliance department of AkzoNobel. I work across a wide range of sectors, including agrifood, life sciences, automotive, (fast moving) consumer goods, insurance, transport, construction and energy. I have been advising clients from all over Europe, Asia (Japan, China) and North America, including national and local governments. My practice covers all aspects of EU and Dutch competition law, including merger control, cartel procedures, abuse of dominance, state aid, private damages litigation and the specific Dutch 'Wet Markt en Overheid' as well as FDI and foreign subsidies control. I have specific and recent expertise in (coordination of) multi-jurisdictional merger control procedures; complaints against envisaged mergers; cartel (settlement) procedures; vertical distribution systems; joint cooperation matters; antitrust compliance programmes and cartel damages litigation. All at national and EU level. I have inter alia assisted clients during dawn raids and interrogations by competition authorities, guided clients in their leniency requests and represented clients in litigation against authorities and (other) companies. However, I consider my main task to help my client to prevent that these (sometimes necessary) occasions will ever occur.I have obtained LL.M degrees in Dutch civil law, EU and International law. Having studied in the Netherlands, Belgium, France and Italy and being married to an Austrian citizen I am able to understand different (European) cultures and communicate in Dutch, English, French, German and Italian.
