International was created on my appointment to establish, manage and oversee the operations of existing and establish new law practices throughout the Middle East. The international presence in Qatar and Iraq was expanded with the addition of new offices in Saudi Arabia, Jordan, London, Qatar Finance Centre (QFC) and Kuwait. My role encompassed all the expansion requirements including market research, strategy, planning, establishment, recruitment and management of all the international offices.The ongoing management responsibilities for this role included coordination of centralised support services, cashflow and financial performance, pricing, marketing and cross referrals. Working in the Middle East in a multi cultural and multi jurisdictional environment provided unique challenges and rewards. With little day-to-day input from the owners, I was ultimately responsible for the management and performance of the International offices.

As the firm’s senior finance executive and board member, I was responsible for overseeing the financial and administrative functions of the firm, including monthly management reporting, governance risk issues and working with the firm’s external tax advisors and auditors, insurance brokers, bankers and other consultants.My key achievement in this position involved developing, implementation and monitoring the firm and practice area strategic and business plans and budgets, setting performance standards and the timely reporting and explanation of key performance indicators and results. I also specified and implemented a new Practice Management system and designed an Executive Information System along with the required policies, procedures and training to ensure its ongoing success.
