The capstone of my business career was my 2015 selection as the 14th "Cruise Line Executive" to enter the Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA) "Hall of Fame"; an honor I now share with my Royal Caribbean colleagues, Ed Stephan, the founder of Royal Caribbean Cruise Line, and Richard Fain, the long-time Chairman & CEO of Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. My +50-year career journey evolved:• From field sales representative on Long Island, NY for the Aetna Fire & Casualty Company; • To selling toilet paper & paper towels in Brooklyn NY for Scott Paper Co.;• To a Madison Avenue, NYC “Madman” (Young & Rubicam + DDB/Needham); • To Miami FL and the very beginnings of the modern cruise vacation industry; • To “C-Level” executive positions at three of the world’s largest cruise lines (RCL, NCL and Carnival Corp)• To a ‘missioneering’ effort ... though unsuccessful ... to jumpstart a modern U.S.-flagged, ‘blue water’ cruise industry: American Classic VoyagesMy journey even included a brief stop (1996/1997 season) as the CMO for the NBA’s Miami Heat!! And I earned an NBA Playoff bonus check when Pat Riley and his Miami Heat (i.e. Alonzo Mourning, Tim Hardaway, PJ Brown, Dan Majerle, et al) battled to the 1997 Eastern Conference Finals losing to the Chicago Bulls (Michael Jordan, Scotty Pippin, et al).At this end of my career journey, if I had to do it all over again I wouldn’t change a thing! What more could anyone ask for ...
