Serving on the Manufacturing Task Force - a select group of Ottawa municipal employees, Ontario provincial employees, and Ottawa based manufacturing industry representatives working to strengthen the manufacturing sector in the Ottawa area.

We need to do a better job to communicate the values of the science fair experience and how it contributes to our base of future workers and leaders in the STEM fields. With understanding, and a richer engagement with science fair alumni for those supporting industries, we can further improve those regional science fair events across Canada. This is an initiative to reshape what started as my volunteer work for the ORSF into a fair-independent collaboration of helpers who believe in the immense importance of science fairs to youth development. Also, you could have an exhibit that you want to show to youth.About the ORSF (my activity is volunteer corporate fundraising and event sideshow planning):I'm a volunteer who works each year to ensure the Ottawa Regional Science Fair has a sustainable event with a budget for prizes and to send our 11 winners to the week long Canada Wide Science Fair with all expenses paid. You can personally donate (tax receipt issued) or become a corporate sponsor (with marketing perks). The ORSF has no paid employees, we are about 16 volunteers on the committee and about 130 volunteers at the annual fair (most judges) that care about bettering tomorrows youth through the experience of in-depth projects from Gr 7-12 that sharpen their skills and help them discover their interests to make better university education choices when they graduate from high school. Developed the worlds first computer server using the Transmeta processor. Presented it at Comdex to an audience of some 600 press alongside of large brands also debuting their laptops and notebooks for the first time using the Transmeta processor.

Chip design, fiber optic sytems, switching systems, technology groups, hardware and software roles. Numerous responsibilities in divisions 5, 1, 7, 0 in both complex engineering assignments and later management roles in product development and outside contract management. Recognized internally for leadership quality and significant effort in various roles. Details too numerous for here but available upon request for those needing to know.

Taught labs, marked labs, and marked exam papers for electrical engineering students.

Between completing BSc in Phyiscs at UNB and entering a MASc in EE at UofT, worked for the interim as a research assistant where duties included getting their first methanol laser working, CO2 lasers, developing computer and electronic control apparatus for experiments involving lasers and spectroscopy.

Helped with labs and marking as a teaching assistant for physics students.

Worked summers for the Department of Transportation. Leveraging skills acquired over many years of an electronics hobby activity, repaired 2-way mobile radios and repeaters for NB government departments including Transportation, Provincial Police, Hospital and Ambulance, and Veterinarians. Also installed mobile radios in vehicles and worked on maintenance of repeater sites around the province. Also designed and installed the console to link various government department radio communications together for the NB Emergency Measures Organization and installed it in the EMO's mobile command vehicle. Also throughout education before, during, and after this interval, did numerous side contracts for companies and individuals that involved repair and manufacturing including repair of products for a Fredericton Radio Shack outlet, design and manufacturing of hardware for Interactive Computer Systems to add audio to the Commodore Pet computers they were selling, digital timers for another business, and repair of mobile radios for individuals.
